Work with Talia Chanoff, AMFT

Talia Chanoff, AMFT | Dialectical Behavioral Therapist

I believe that as humans we strive for safety, fulfillment and contentment in our lives. We each have deep, inherent wells of wisdom and resources within us that help us move towards these systems of balance, but sometimes they get clouded or lost along the way. My hope is to listen to your story and through deep trust and relationship building, reacquaint you with your power while honoring the systems that protected you during times of dis-ease and difficulty. Together, let’s allow the parts of you that have been hidden as means of self-protection to come up for air and reveal themselves while supporting you on the path back home to your most authentic self.

I work from a holistic lens, meaning there is a variety of ways that I approach therapy and I will tailor our work together to fit your unique needs. I aim to co-create a safe and easeful space to provide compassionate support and unconditional acceptance no matter what is going on in your life. I have extensive training and experience in humanistic, relational, trauma-informed, psychodynamic, and somatic frameworks.

I am also certified in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), which provides concrete tools to cope with difficult and painful emotions and experiences. In my somatic work, I acknowledge that our physical and energetic bodies are powerfully connected to our emotional world and I can help you locate the inherent knowledge that your body holds through various tools and practices.

I specialize in working with folks struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, substance abuse and harm reduction, life transitions, and stress management. I also hold vast experience supporting individuals experiencing PTSD, chronic illness, chronic pain, eating disorders and those struggling with a complicated relationship with food.

I use a social justice and trauma informed lens that acknowledges that at our best as humans, we work to support one another in community. I also believe that therapy can be a political space as it empowers us against oppressive systems. If you wish, I am here to be present with you as you explore and process how the vast injustices in the world may be affecting your internal states. Together we can examine the question: Is there something “wrong” with me as an individual, or do we live in an inequitable society that causes emotional and often generational trauma? Our trauma can lead to behaviors that do not ultimately serve us or align with our core values—but there is room to heal. Your ancestral roots, intersecting identities, and cultural practices are an honor for me to make space for in our work together.

I happily offer a free 15 minute consultation.

Fees:

Individual Therapy: $160 for 50 minute sessions

Couples Therapy: $195 for 60 minute sessions

$235 for 75 minute sessions*

*The length of couples sessions is determined based on each couples’ needs and financial considerations.

I offer the possibility of a sliding scale agreement in the circumstance of financial difficulty.
